Review Of Dr. Jart+’s Premium BB Cream With SPF 45

I’m a huge fan of BB cream, so when I got this in my August Birchbox I was absolutely thrilled. Sadly, the product didn’t meet up to my expectations. The first thing I noticed was that the BB cream only came in one shade and that was something much lighter than my skin tone. (Not all  of Dr. Jart+’s BB creams are only one shade, but the premium one is.) I normally use medium in any foundation, BB cream, tinted moisturizer, or CC cream. This BB cream’s shade is the equivalent of a light or a light-medium. When I put it on it made my skin at least a shade lighter, which meant if I was going to use it I’d need to put on more bronzer than usual with it.

Compared to my usual BB cream, which is Garnier in medium, this didn’t go on as smooth or provide as much coverage. I could still see some discoloration in my skin, under eye circles, and blemishes even though I’d put a fair amount of the BB cream on.

On top of the color and coverage issue, this BB cream seems to stick to dry skin worse than any others I’ve tried. I always use moisturizer before my makeup, but this BB cream still somehow find dry places on my face to stick to. It made my face look weird and clumpy in places.

As far as how it felt on my skin goes, I’m happy with that. It felt just as light as any other BB cream I’ve tried, and of course, much lighter than any foundation feels. Another thing I was happy about was the SPF 45, a lot of my other creams only go up 25 or 30, it’s nice to have something with that much sun protection.

Wear time with Dr. Jart+’s Premium BB Cream was something else I was happy with. It lasted all day, never smearing and never running when I would sweat in the summer heat. It didn’t budge until I used makeup remover to take it off at night.

Overall, I wasn’t happy with this BB Cream. I definitely would never pay the $40.00 Birchbox wants for a 1.5 oz bottle of the stuff. I’ll stick to my Garnier BB Cream; it’s wears better, it lasts just as long, it comes in my skin tone, and it’s only $18-$20 depending on where you go.
